UCC's 'Relevance to You' Series

Through the new ‘Relevance to You’ series of short presentations and networking, academic experts at University College Cork will be presenting a range of their current research topics of interest to society and which impact our daily lives in an accessible and engaging format.

Each event will be chaired by Dr Jean van Sinderen-Law, Associate Vice President and will consist of four or five diverse topics, delivered in an informative and stimulating way by UCC academics and will conclude with an opportunity for you to comment, provide input and to exchange ideas.  Some of the topics about which you will enjoy hearing will be Brexit: Cork’s friend or foe? The notion of learning through seeing. Where will the next generation of antibiotics come from and How does our society respond to children in conflict with the law while also learning about what precisely does a medieval manuscript reveal?

Is the journey through the birth canal, the most challenging journey of our lives? and Can Hip Hop offer solutions to current global political crises through its bottom-up vision of globalisation?

Open to the public, the events will take place in the Conference Hall of the UCC Centre for Executive Education at Lapps Quay from 17.30 to 19.15 on the following dates:
